Opening the album is "Could Have Been a Contender" - all B~]5$-  
polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the LEMfG~Czq  
jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of 2gO2jJlv  
intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an XGP6L0j  
underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented ': N51kC  
as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of sB;@>NY  
bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The (aD_zG=k5  
Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to >3z5
ww  
its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to &u#&@J  
accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling N[kwO1

The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that Q}-~O1  
truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his dtpoU&?6s  
laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost XC.%za8  
and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his jDQZQ NS  
younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album ^f# FI&  
and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to os/vtyP:a  
Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour. ]T%rjsN  
If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr @}u9Rn*d;  
seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters ],P;WPU  
Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that. v{} #?=I5  
If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably 0v9rv.Y "  
be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of HttiX/2~  
heartbreak. `w]s

The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs :=J,z,H_U  
themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant foQ#a  
lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier 6`f2-f9%iq  
than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so ">#wOm+ +  
but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any N!g9*Z
 
kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although tK pmm`2  
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is 9<KAXr#  
doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of lbpq_=  
icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything V0)fZS@tf  
in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising. $m42:amM

Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too F7Zwh5W  
polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your TY1I=8  
affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than O BN2 ) j  
your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair fFc/ d(  
comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit Uw 47LP  
his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit St e=&^  
of fire and even some unpredictability would have been Y.*y9)#S6  
welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple TYy.jFT-
