r7z6__ _ intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
G\H q/4 underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
vP]9; mQ as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
&MGgO\|6 bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The

Py[[R Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
@SVEhk# its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
GPh wq n{ accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
[r<
Y0|l,m mineral water.
V{aIhH> P }y=n#%|i. The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
>5@ 0lYhH truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
I8pxo7(- laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
o _,$`nEJ and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
H&K)q5~ younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
s].Cx4VQ and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
0#[Nfe* Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
[.#$hOsNR If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
' w$we6f seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
b8-^wJH! Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.

ojs/yjv x ~|d?o5W The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
[`n yq ) themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
PT*@#:MA lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
+z/73s0~ than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
rN!9& but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
UtW3KvJ#= kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
+wgUs*(W his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
Fe>#}-` doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
O!cO/]< icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
"lj:bxM2C in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
=8 1Xt1, 7&U+f:-w Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
E ^>7jf09, polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
L$07u {Q affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
9!OCilG your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
.;sPG comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
k/rkJ|i+p his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
{}gk4 xr of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
:QY 9p T welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
Qz90 mb espresso kind of guy.
