>'4$g7o, bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
6l T< l zT Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
6TTu[*0NT its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
aRElk&M accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
8!YQ9T [ mineral water.
'n=bQ"bQu yEk|(6+^ The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
}ice*3'3 truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
v KW i?}1 laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
K1o>>388G and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
r+h%a~A# > younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album

E' %;: and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to

:Cp_ Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
? 8/r= If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
zliMG=6 seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
)Ly ~\* Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
P&=YLL<W If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
qM+Ai*q be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
w]nt_xj heartbreak.
#%F-Xsk dm]g:KWg The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
JdLPIfI^ themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
9HEqB0|ZRu lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
7r^Cs#b+I than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
(>E/C^T c% but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
IaQm)"Z kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
({@" { his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
\o=9WKc doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
5gV,^[E-z icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
DBG0)=SHy in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
LT>_Y`5> h W'b'x< Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too

j}d):3! your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair

8EMBqhl welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
