`_+% underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
E2i'l O\P as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
QruclNW{Bv bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
xRbtiFk9H Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to

f its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
z2U^z *n{ accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
:y1,OR/k mineral water.
Ny5$IIF e HlOn=>)< The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
dZ|x `bIgs truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
L>&9+<-B laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
gTb%c84 and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
']U<R=5T$ younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
F$@ (0c and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to

r4 Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
R1~wzy If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
Xbu P_U' seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
`+!F#. Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
q0{ _w If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
|ZG0E be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
J1Run0 heartbreak.
@a (-U.CZ Ff1!+P, The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
(,D:6(R7t themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
3z% W5[E) lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
(qzBy \\p than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
5c$\DZ( but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any

cGoo u6 kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
V1yP{XT= his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
N(%(B doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
uC%mGZ a icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
~l}\K10L* in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
|nBs(>b a SMoee@! Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
xdh%mG:? polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
u.Tknw-X affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
M(v X.kF your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
[\rzXE comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
iK!F VKi} his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit

% of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
yMt:L )+ welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
