w^G<]S {l as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of

f%"Z bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
)w;XicT Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
q6H90Zb its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
!rTh+F* accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
$Jb+}mlT mineral water.
W z y8 NkNw9?: #4 The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
bi#o1jR truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
o2a`4K laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
Kk9 JZ[nT' and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
7S2Bm]fP younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album

rPb8 and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
%9{4g-> Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
CWCE}WU>4 If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr

If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
c{|soc[# be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
#(ANyU(#e heartbreak.
=ZzhH};aX r^WO$u|@i The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
<X|"5/h themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
2x $\vL0 lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
(tyo4Tz1 than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
(V{bfDu&h@ but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
r{>tTJFD(: kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
.LnXKRd{ his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
I0m/ doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
/A|ofAr) icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
"^22 Y}VB in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.

Hcg 5 xTm ] Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
