+c(zo4nZ underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented

as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
ozmrw\_}[ bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
v25R_""~ Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
( }{G`N>.{ its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
f[@77m* accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
z_F-T=_ mineral water.
h]Wr [v O{QA The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
9KDEM gCW truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
LCZ\4g05 laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
S]bmS6# and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his

Ro3c younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
G}:w@}h/ and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
qs1 ?IYD Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
YUx.BZf7 If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
w\(.3W7 seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
8VeQ-#7M/ Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
SO IHePmwK If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
tasIDoo+!J be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
,24p%KJ*X heartbreak.
ix([mQg 01}C^iD The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
H| 8Qp* themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
Z1 Bp+a3 lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier

r/ than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
;*Ivn@L but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
{l>y i kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although

U his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
%K>,xiD) doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
,{BaePMp icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
?98("T|y; in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
AfX}y+Ah Bk*F_>X" Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
=h0,?]z polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
%/|9@e r affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
U^Q:Y}^ your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
fz\9 S comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
XZ sz/# his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
S 5/R_5 of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
se jg& 8 welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
