gqi|k6V/ underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
MSMgaw? as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
[ sT}hYh+ bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
E T A 1 \ Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to

WtTC its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
[$D4U@mRp accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
mCY+V~^~kz mineral water.
Ehv*E 'n)]"G| The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
%O< qw truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
[H!8m7i; laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
zU7 /P|Dw+ and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
b2Jgg&?G younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
k^ZcgHHgb and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
uk(|c-_]~c Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.

a8t If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
e {dYLQd seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters

r^$4]@Wn be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

k7\h- yn{ ^q uv`d The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
UUF;Q0X themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
iw$n*1M lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
?5> Ep:{+/ than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
'z= QV {ni but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
Y_}DF.>I P kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although

O\+z his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
*{y/ wgX doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
>J \} &!8, icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything

V_SZp8 i8tH0w/(M Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
$g?`yE(K polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your

m R3km1T your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
