w]nX?S8 underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
Z&Ue|Z 4Qt as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
+c--&tBo bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
i\)3l%AK]T Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
iRNLKi its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
`?"6l5d.] accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
;FU|7L$H mineral water.
}k 7_'p&yk YGp)Oy}: The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
/ ;Yy@oc truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
6W&_2a7* laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
?1peF47Z and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
zPR8f-U vw younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
%m eLW& and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
X P;Bhz3j Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
Mu{BUtkzG If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
~EEs} i seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters

)M SZ2)( themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
=xL )$DTg) lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
_7"5wB?|+ than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
/aY pIMi9} but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
s9O2k}] kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
>zs5s his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
jAC78n,Fi@ doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
\K7t'20 icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything

o5!f#Y h i|! Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
L%t@,O#, polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
m|O1QM;T affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
$ i# ?v your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
(RE2I comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
Q9c)k{QZ his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
#H~_K}Ks of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
w<NyV8-hL welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
