}rE|\ p> polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the
)yP> }ME jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of
7" [;M intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
ts]7 + 6V underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented

,O as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
' 7A7HDJ bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
_#O?g=1 Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
FCWphpz its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
J W\"S accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
+Xp;T`,v mineral water.
-AT@M1K7% zT% kx:Fk The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
=/; _7|ssd truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
JdHc'WtS!| laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
Kq$Zyf=E and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
ie!4z34 younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
W!k6qTz) and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
CA4-&O" Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
$ZRN#x@ If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
>D<=9G(a seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters

$ If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
DR /) hAE be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

uFm-HR@4 "{_"Nj H The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
^H4i Hjg themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
d eoM~r9s lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
.y/b$|d, than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
zmFFBf"< but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
\bOjb\ w$ kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
r!^\ Q7 his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
F47n_JV!d doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
p L@zZK0 icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
m_2P{ in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
%SGO"*_ |S{P`)z%f Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
<k](s polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
0EOX@;} affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than

_y your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
#P#R~b] comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
$:[BB ,$ his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
0*?XQV@ of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
>!1 f` welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
