This approach freed Portland resident Hagadorn to record when he had a song he liked, as opposed to grabbing a set of ten songs to make an album. Musical touchstones are Beatles, Kinks, and Byrds without settling for a slavish devotion to an era-specific sound. Hagadorn has an ear for melody and a catchy hook.
