}Yargj_Gn underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
\]|(w*C as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
0`KR8# A@ bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
-^ R?O Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
T%]@R4z#q its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
L}= t"y accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
P{+,?X\ mineral water.

|?pQm The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
}U ue}VOA truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
J;*2[o.N laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost

and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
YkF52_^_ younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
^TEFKx}PX and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
szUJh9- Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
* -X`^R If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
;pt.)5 seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
hV}C.- 6h Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
zK>}x= If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
^GnR1.ux be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
IC:>60A,] heartbreak.
uNf9 7*~_ e7r3o,! The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
9c{T|+ ] themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
5;@2SY7 , lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
js; k,` than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
F60?% g g but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
C;0VR kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
kgP6'`}E[ his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
Y?AvcY. doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
\ 0/m$V. icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
3?Fe( !@ in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.

%m##i Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
$6]1T> polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
_0o65?F affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
[L=M=;{4 your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
@k9n 0Qe|F comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
z:oi @q his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
"#P#;]\ ` of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
tQE<'94A welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
