oij}'|/Jc 3 H6lBF Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham will release his fifth solo
Ay w ;N album 'Gift of Screws' on September 15th on Reprise. The album is
E`d e7 his first since 2006's acoustically focused 'Under The Skin'.
Jx7C'~,J Primarily recorded and self-produced at his home studio and on the
5T2CISmu road during the 'Under The Skin' tour, the album also features two
(UvM@]B
songs co-produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance).
1A G<$d5U| Mixing the immediacy of the best of his contributions to Fleetwood
{NFr]LGOp Mac with experimental production flourishes, highlights of the set
N&g3t %F include 'Bel Air Rain', 'Time Precious Time', 'Underground, 'Love
4;]hK!AXS Runs Deeper' and 'Treason'. "You could certainly say this album is
mmEYup(l0; a distillation of a number periods of time, some false starts to
Za3]d+q
m make albums, certainly some songs that go back a number of years,
[~#WG/!: that took a while to find a home here, combined with brand-new
Y^7$t^& songs and a whole other outlook," explains Buckingham. "And the
au+kNF|Q fact that there was a kind of tenacity and focus to want to bring
jW3!6*93 all of this together in one place. The fact that as an artist I'm
#W'H
R still, for better or worse, clinging to my idealism and to my
{/(D$"j(S sense that there is still yet much to be said. This is a
G{ sOR culmination of that." "The first one was more of a boutique kind
n}_JB
>i~ of album," he adds by way of comparing 'Under The Skin' with
dWUm\t'# 'Gift of Screws'. "It's almost like the opening act and then the
_w/EP headline act in terms of the kind of approach. Here I'm bringing
mdmvT ~` to bear many more aspects of what I can do - guitar solos, just
BJB^m|b) rocking a lot more in addition to the other things. It does rock
U06o ;s( more! And they do seem to complement each other." The album also
._p""'S a features the unmistakable sound of the Fleetwood Mac rhythm
GG'Sp53GE section, as John McVie and Mick Fleetwood contribute to several
0%)5.=6 songs including the title-track and 'Wait For You'.
