Opening the album is "Could Have Been a Contender" - all 9(<@O%YU  
polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the YZJyk:H\  
jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of FXU8[j0P_G  
intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an ;]:@n;c\  
underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented mB)bcuPv  
as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of o[D9I hs  
bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The S
`Rs82>  
Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to ,9 a  
its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to J9S>yLQK  
accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling 6D_D';o

The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that -`6+UkOV[x  
truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his ~flV`wy$$1  
laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost +[g,B1jt  
and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his cQ_Hp <D  
younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album r9G>jiw8  
and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to Ny)X+2Ae  
Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour. C+&l< fM&  
If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr Eu04e N  
seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters see

The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs iO; 7t@]-  
themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant ,~W|]/b<q  
lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier x'R`. !g3  
than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so Od)C&N=y  
but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any mpJ#:}n  
kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although  x]ot 2  
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is &b& ,  
doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of E8&TO~"a]e  
icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything , ++ `=o  
in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising. ufT` "i

Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too uY'

affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than y"w ShAR  
your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair 7Hu3>4<  
comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit 8}| (0mC  
his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit r]36zX v  
of fire and even some unpredictability would have been k"w"hg&e  
welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple k|d+#u[Mj@
