在凱撒死後300後，這個世界擁有更原始的景觀、廣闊的森林，而且每隻猩猩、金剛和狒狒都可以用語言溝通。曾經統領猿猴的英雄凱撒已經成了歷史傳奇，餘下來的人猿依舊稱霸世界，且人類自戰爭之後，反而成了底層動物。而男主角諾亞就是他在遵循的傳統和規則下生活，不過當殘暴的猿族首領承繼著凱撒之名行暴君之實，諾亞開始懷疑他所了解的過去，並迫使他做出關於猿人和人類存亡的關鍵決定。 ecG,[1];  
為了要讓觀眾有身歷其境的感受，因此所有景色幾乎都是真實的，導演威斯柏採取非常規路線拍攝，「我們帶著演員在真實的地點一起拍攝，就好像大家在拍大型實境秀一樣，不同的是，演員臉上必須戴著動作捕捉器」。為了讓畫面看起來更自然，導演還在外景四周隱藏了數支攝影機，再加上現場的12支攝影機，清楚捕捉演員的表情和動作。 m Qy!*0y
